A PATH OF LEARNING AND LIVING MUSIC

The Way of the Voice is my approach to teaching music.

It has grown from more than twenty years of immersion in the ancient tradition of Dhrupad, together with my own experience of learning and teaching this art as a Western musician.

Rather than a method, it is a way of living, understanding, practicing and embodying music.

A way of rediscovering the natural voice, refining the ear, allowing sound to become a place of attention not only a performance.

The voice is our first instrument.

Whether we sing or play the bansuri, or any other instrument,  the quality of sound begins long before technique. It begins in the body, in the breath, in resonance, in the ability to listen deeply.

My teachings draw from the principles of Dhrupad and Indian Classical Music and at the same time integrate my own experience and journey trough the struggles of a westerner approaching a culture far from her own.

It is not about reproducing a tradition mechanically, but about allowing its wisdom to illuminate our own relationship with music, practice and life.

The Way of the Voice is open to singers, instrumentalists and anyone wishing to cultivate a deeper understanding of sound.
